A doctor of Osteopathy, Dr. Miles
said he likes to "treat the body as a
whole. Stressing how body, function
and activity are all interrelated."
He is a
1985 graduate of Kirksville College of
Osteopathic Medicine and received
post doctorate and residency training
at University General Hospital, Seminole, Fla., and Brooks Air Force School
of Aero Space Medicine, San Antonio,
Texas.
Following his post doctorate
training he became a Flight Surgeon in
the United States Air Force, stationed
at Andrews Air Force Base, Washington
D.C, where he was assigned physician
to many VIP personnel including The
President of the United States, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and
Secretary of Defense. |
He became interested in medical
weight loss while working on his master's degree in biochemistry. During this time he published two articles onthe affect of dietary fats and the activity of various lipase enzymes (enzymes
that control the breakdown of fat in
the body). Using this back ground he
helped implement the weight loss program at Andrews Air Force Base as well
as at the Pentagon.
"I understand how to deal with weight loss in many of the more difficult patients to treat, like hypertension,
diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and sleep apnea, "I treat individual patients by
creating a tailored treatment plan for
weight loss for each one."
